Amangiri Resort , study on resort project
The strategy of the project is reducing the building height to one level and using materials that mimic the colors, tones and textures of the desert. It is a sensory contrast between natural and artificial materials which are intended to highlight. It focuses on achieving the ultimate expression of the materiality of the construction elements. The use of textured concrete, carpentry and greatly simplified with a basic partitioning spaces, its architecture have provided a very peculiar essence. Steven Holl has defined it as an architect thickens add light to dense textures. For Holl, architect Rick Joy is someone who pampers the intuitive imagination, stimulating the expression of the materials during the construction process.
The buildings in the resort is specially built to bond with the cliffs whilst not destroying the cliffs to stay in touch with nature’s work. Defining a whole new meaning of space from nature. Even the buildings had to sacrifice its own geometrical layout to confront with the cliffs, instead of making a decision of going through the cliffs.
Every resort needs to have outdoor living room to get fresh air, while this resort is in the windy desert, it must a fence wind fence to strong winds striking the living room.
